It stood on its hind legs, dusted off its fur, and bowed with courtly precision. 'You have saved my life,' it purred in a voice like velvet, before vanishing into an alley that seemed to stretch into infinity. When Haru followed, the grey concrete of Tokyo dissolved. In its place rose towering grasses under a sky painted in violent shades of twilight purple.
